Step-by-Step Guide
Open cobby Task Pane
- First, we open cobby as usual and create our own product view for better clarity. We are working with one product here. [Learn here how to create your own product view.]
- First, go to column E, where the attribute "Images" is listed, and click on the first row. This will open the cobby Task Pane on the right side.
The cobby Task Pane now shows you the images assigned to the product and their attributes, which we will explain to you below.
File name
The file name is listed in the gray shaded field. The name is taken from the file that was selected when adding the image.
Note: The file name can no longer be changed at this point; cobby only refers to the name.
Image preview
In the upper left corner of the Task Pane, you can see a small preview of the image.
Image versions
You can define different image versions. These image attributes are displayed as follows:
- thumbnail: This is the smallest image version, which is often displayed at the bottom of a webpage or in the shopping cart.
- small image: This image version is slightly larger and is often used when multiple images are listed in categories.
- base image: This is the main image of the product and therefore the largest. It is the first image that is seen when the product is opened in the shop.
Hide images
Check the box labeled "Excluded:" for the corresponding image in the cobby Task Pane. In Magento, the image will then be marked as hidden and will not be visible to customers.
Edit alt text
You can change the alt text in the cobby Task Pane in the field "Description: [ALT TEXT]".
Note: Alt texts enhance the user experience and contribute to SEO, as search engines cannot read images, but they can read HTML.
Swatch
With the image attribute Swatch, you can manage the different color or fabric variations of your product, so that the customer sees an overview of the options available in the shop. The attribute is located below the field for the alt text.
Change image positions
- Select the image by clicking on the name.
- Then click on the downward-pointing arrow.
If you want to move an image up, it works the same way.
Add images
- If you want to add images, click on the "Add" button.
- Then a folder will open from which you can select an image.
- If you have selected one, click "Open" to finish. The image will then be displayed in the cobby Task Pane.
Mass processing
Here we have the example of a yoga band, which is offered in three different lengths. Visually, they are the same, so they are assigned the same image. In such a case, you can use mass processing.
- Therefore, you can copy the content from the first row for the other products by dragging it down or clicking the green square.
Remove images
- Select the image in the Task Pane first.
- And then click on the "Remove" button.
The image disappears immediately. Therefore, there is no further prompt asking if you really want to remove it.
Image preview
- By clicking the button, the Image Preview opens, which always shows the first image of the product. This way, you can quickly identify what type of product is listed.
- You can also move the view of the preview window. Here, for example, it is firmly attached to the cobby Task Pane. This way, you always see the image preview, no matter whether you are currently in the attribute type or SKU, etc.
Optional: By clicking on the gear in the blue area and checking "Always show image preview," you activate the constant image preview. After that, you need to close and reopen cobby Excel once. This way, you always have an image preview of the product, regardless of which attribute you are in and whether the Task Pane is open or not. Great for orientation!
💡 Short note at the end: Don't be confused by the long image path behind the function bar. It is automatically generated by cobby for further processing, but is otherwise not relevant. So you don't need to know it.
Excellent! 🎉
Now you know, among other things, how to assign image versions in cobby, add, hide, and remove images, apply mass processing, and set the image preview temporarily or permanently.
